Presentation

We have given the floor to 16.773 youths, coming from different contexts for nationality, culture, religion, age and education (school/University). Research subjects were youths aged between 16 and 29 attending the last two years of secondary school, the first two University cycles or starting out on their careers.
Participants were invited to provide personal and anonymous answers to an online questionnaire, under the monitoring of a supervisor. The sample consisted of 70 Universities, ten of them non-Catholic, and 15 Catholic, secular or non-Christian schools.

The following topics were investigated:
Context: family, social, economic, educational, work, and religious context.
Identity: interests, personal inclinations, formation…
Values and relationships: relationships with the family and group of friends, choices and opinions, social-network use …
Relations with the world and its institutions: trust in Institutions, work world, religious activities, life goals and plans for the future…

Goals

In October 2018 in Rome it was held the Synod of Bishops on «Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment». This survey was launched to investigate the questions related to contemporary youths and provide the Synod Fathers with scientifically collected datathat might prove useful to enrich the discussion with and about young people. The survey inspired "Noi Per", the inaugural event of the Synod held in Paul VI Hall in the presence of the Holy Father Francis - The video of the event is available in the section “Supplements”.
The results, updated and accurate, provide a starting point to rethink the education and youth policies at a local, regional, national and international level: in the involved schools and Universities, data stimulated an organized reflection on the youths, on their cultures and expectations, as well as on institutions’ own values and attitudes.
Finally, the results are guiding the projects of the Foundation and the activity of the Congregation for Catholic Education.
The results of the survey are available in the section “Supplements”.
