New route of solidarity

New route of solidarity

In the sky, emptier due to the limitations imposed by the COVID-19, there is a new route of solidarity. It connects Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, and Lima, in Peru. A flight, with 50 tonnes of humanitarian aids on board, has reached the South American capital and then, by land, its final destination: Iquitos, city of 400 thousand inhabitants located in a bight of the Amazon River, in the thick Amazon rainforest.
The flight has transported useful materials for the containment of the pandemic’ spread, which has its new global epicentre in South America. Masks, gloves, medical oxygen and foodstuffs has been distributed by the local Church: a part to the health and educational institutions; the rest among the families of the area.
The initiative is sponsored by the Pontifical Foundation Gravissimum Educationis in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, which donated the materials.
