"Education and Development for peace among peoples"

Brescia, Italia
BRESCIA (ITALY), March 23-25, 2017: As 50 years went by since Paul VI's Populorum Progressio, a study conference intends to redesign international cooperation starting from education.
Gravissimum Educationis Foundation is one of the partners.

On March 23rd, 24th and 25th, 2017, the Brescia campus of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore hosts the Conference on "Education and Development for Peace among Peoples."
More than thirty international speakers - including great names of civil and ecclesiastical society - will confront themselves with Paul VI's Encyclical Populorum Progressio, which in 1967 marked a turning point in the Church's Social Doctrine, drawing attention to the dramatic problems of developing countries. The teachings contained therein are also relevant today - in a context characterized by planetary interdependence, prolonged economic crisis and large migratory flows - and have inspired the encyclicals Caritas in Veritate of Benedict XVI and Laudato Si‘ of Pope Francis. Yet recent and more complex issues require new solutions: experts will analyze the current socio-cultural scenarios and global challenges and will reprogram cooperation and international governance together. At the end of the conference the document "Educating to Fraternal Humanism", prepared by the Congregation for Catholic Education, will be presented.

The conference is promoted by four universities: Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Accademia Santa Giulia in Brescia, LUMSA of Rome, Sophia of Loppiano (FI) with the collaboration of the Foundation Gravissimum Educationis.
